Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, as the light over Comino begins to soften, Noma Island turns from a beach club by day into one of the best sunset spots in Malta by evening. Boat transfers run from Marfa Jetty into the evening, aboard Europe’s only floating island, for three evenings a week built entirely around golden hour, when the crowds have gone home and the vessel belongs to whoever stayed for the view.
DINNER AT SEA
From 18:30 to 23:00, the kitchen serves an à la carte menu on board. Tables sit out over the open water, so the sunset arrives at the table rather than somewhere in the background: a sunset dinner in Malta with nothing between you and the horizon.
Live music carries across the deck as the light drops, the bar stays open through the evening, and dinner carries on for as long as it wants to. Island Sunset Dinner is for guests aged 17 and over. See the restaurant and what’s on the menu.
THE SETTING
Comino’s waters turn from turquoise to gold as the light drops, the vessel holding its place at the centre of it all, with the mainland fading into the distance behind. Music carries across the deck, glasses catch the last of the light, and for a few hours the sea itself seems to slow down. Because there is no shoreline here, the view runs a full 360°: the sun going down on one side, the sky already turning deep blue on the other, and open water in every direction from every seat.
The last of the day boats thin out of the Blue Lagoon and the anchorage empties, so the horizon stays uninterrupted the whole way round.
Then the sun goes, the lights come up, and the sea darkens until the only light for miles is the one you are standing on. There’s no better place to watch the sunset in Malta, and no other floating island to watch it from.
EXTEND YOUR STAY
Guests already spending the day at the beach club can simply stay on for the evening and add a table to the same booking.
It makes for one long day that changes character around you: a morning in the clear water off Comino, an afternoon between the pool and a sunbed, then the turn into evening without ever going ashore.
Day guests who stay on are the ones who see both versions of the island, the bright one and the golden one. There is no shuttle to catch and nowhere else to be, so a single booking carries you from the first swim through to the last course.
For everyone else, a dedicated evening transfer leaves from Marfa Jetty, so dinner at sea works as an evening out on its own, with no need for a day ticket.
